Stone Walls

Drystone Wall

What is it?
A drystone wall, also known as a dyke, is the construction of carefully placed interlocking stones providing a strong wall.
Why use a drystone wall?
Drystone walls are good for several aspects:
  • They are durable
  • Unlike a fence or hedge they require minimal maintenace and will not rot or die
  • They are ideal where the ground conditions are harsh
  • They can provide shelter for livestock
  • Adds unique character to any property
  • Recycles natural materials
  • Can be used as a boundary

Not all walls need to be constructed as drystone dykes, mortar walls built with cement may be more suitable for your requirements.
